Fill in the blank. Change is _________.

Could it be that change isn't so hard? Maybe it is all in the approach…

Here's an example: When one goes scuba diving it is best to allow the current to move the body along, instead of kicking all the time. In this way oxygen supply is preserved and the diver can stay down longer to enjoy the wonder and magic that lies beneath the surface. It feels like letting go of control and that can be scary.

This is why change is so hard- fear. We know what we are comfortable with and we want to hold on to it. Like the beginning diver we kick and kick and flail to create some perceived control which only depletes us, creates stress and uses up our energy.

Anything you push against or resist uses  up your energy and exhausts your effort. When you push against what is naturally happening you create tension.
